Fractional Ablation
Skin Resurfacing

SharpLight’s fractional resurfacing treatment is an efficient procedure that reduces the range of photo-aging signs and rejuvenates the skin, producing fresh, younger looking faces, necks and hands. These impressive results are achieved by replacing old, damaged cells with new, healthy ones – and, with SharpLight’s innovative technology, this is done quickly, effectively and safely. Our revolutionary Er:YAG laser produces a micro epidermal peel, which through a thermo-mechanical reaction, removes the problematic areas on the top layer of the skin. The fresh layer that grows has an improved texture, reduced or disappeared wrinkles, scarring, and an overall renewed radiance.

Key Benefits:

  1. Collagen Boost: Rejuvenate your skin from within as the treatment triggers the production of collagen, promoting firmness and elasticity.

  2. Fine Lines and Wrinkle Reduction: Experience a visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, restoring a more youthful complexion.

  3. Scar Revision: Fade away scars and imperfections, unveiling smoother and more even-toned skin.

  4. Texture Improvement: Achieve a silky-smooth texture as the fractional laser targets and refines the skin’s surface.

  5. Customized Precision: The fractional approach allows for targeted treatment, minimizing downtime and optimizing results.

What to Expect:

  1. Comfortable Procedure: Our Fractional Ablation Treatment prioritizes your comfort, with most individuals experiencing minimal discomfort during the procedure.

  2. Personalized Care: Our skincare experts tailor the treatment to your unique skin needs, ensuring a customized and effective experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

After the treatment, treat the area as a wound, keep it clean and hydrated.

After 24 hours you may use a very gentle unscented moisturizer with no alcohol, hydrating cream, or epidermal repair cream. Hydrating creams can be applied multiple times throughout the day. Avoiding sun exposure and applying sunscreen is crucial.

Avoid makeup until skin is fully healed.

After your fractional ablation treatment, you can expect to feel a slight sunburn sensation, this should fade over the next 1-3 hours. Your skin will also be a pinkish-red colour, and a bit itchy for 1-3 days.

After the redness fades, there will be a slight grid pattern, and you will be able to see the tiny dots from the laser where the skin was ablated.

While the skin heals, it will get a slightly darker haze which will heal, and fall off. This can last from a few days to 2 weeks.

Fractional ablation can cause some discomfort, but the level of pain varies depending on the individual's pain tolerance, the depth and intensity of the treatment, and whether a numbing agent is used. Most patients describe the sensation as a series of hot, prickly stings or a rubber band snapping against the skin. Typically, a topical anesthetic is applied beforehand to minimize discomfort, and post-treatment soreness or a sunburn-like feeling may last for a few days.

The treatment works by delivering controlled laser energy to small, fractionated zones of the skin, creating microscopic injuries. This stimulates the body's natural healing process, leading to collagen formation and skin renewal.

Fractional Ablation is effective for treating various skin concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, sun damage, and uneven skin tone. It helps improve skin texture and provides a more youthful appearance.

Fractional ablation is not ideal for all skin types, especially for those with darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI). The treatment can pose a higher risk of hyperpigmentation, scarring, and uneven skin tone in these individuals. Lighter skin types (Fitzpatrick I-III) typically respond better to fractional ablation, with fewer complications. However, advancements in laser technology, like non-ablative fractional lasers, can offer safer options for darker skin tones with proper precautions. It’s important to consult a professional to assess skin type and determine the most suitable treatment.

The downtime after fractional ablation typically ranges from 3 to 7 days, depending on the intensity of the treatment. During this time, you may experience redness, swelling, peeling, and a rough texture as the skin heals. Milder treatments might allow you to resume normal activities within a couple of days, while deeper or more aggressive sessions could require up to a week or two of recovery. Proper aftercare, like moisturizing and sun protection, is crucial to support healing and avoid complications.

The number of sessions needed depends on individual skin conditions and treatment goals. Typically, a series of 3 to 5 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, is recommended for optimal results.

Side effects are generally mild to moderate and may include temporary redness, swelling, and peeling. These effects subside within a few days to a week. It's important to follow post-treatment care instructions provided by your skincare professional.

Good candidates are individuals looking to address signs of aging, sun damage, or scarring. A consultation with a skincare professional will help determine if Fractional Ablation is suitable for your specific skin concerns.
