Facial fillers are injected into the face to restore lost volume, smooth lines, and enhance facial contours. At Body Sculpting Regina, we use Restylane, a dermal filler made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA); which is naturally found in the body. Filler creates a youthful and natural look that can lasts up to 2 years. Areas that are suitable for treatment include cheeks, lips, tear troughs (under eyes), nasolabial lines (smiles lines), nose, chin, jawline, and temples.

Generally, basic dermal filler procedures require no anesthetic as the dermal filler contains a local anesthetic. It is a simple and straight-forward treatment involving a few tiny injections directly into the skin, and takes between 15-30 minutes. The injections themselves feel like a slight pinch, and you may experience slight pressure or a "stinging" sensation as the product is being injected.
Duration depends on many factors, such as the individual’s skin type, skin condition, lifestyle and age, as well as the type and amount of product used. After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6-12 months depending on the individual and the product used. A treatment of the lips can last up to 6 months.
Both treatments involve injections, but Botulinum Toxin relaxes muscle movements that result in wrinkles, while dermal fillers simply plump out and smooth wrinkles. Sometimes, these treatments are more effective when combined.
After the treatment, clients may experience a slight redness, swelling, or tenderness around the area that has been treated. These side effects are completely natural, and for the vast majority of clients who experience them, say they tend to subside in 1 -2 days. On rare occasions, patients may also bruise. However, all of these symptoms will gradually disappear over a period of 7-14 days.
Drinking plenty of water can keep your skin hydrated and enhance the effect of hyaluronic acid fillers. After your treatment, we can recommend skin care products that complement the effects of your filler type.
Don’t worry! Any unwanted dermal fillers can be safely dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid.
